Instead, it said those jobs had been given to foreign workers holding <strong>temporary work visas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Menlo Park, California-based organization is among the top candidates for the<strong> H-1B visa program<\/strong> and the Permanent Labor Certification Program (<strong>PERM<\/strong>). Where it sponsors <strong>green cards<\/strong> or permanent residency permits for employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement with the Justice Department included payments of<strong> $4.75 million<\/strong> to the US government. And as much as <strong>$9.5 million<\/strong> to &#8220;eligible victims of Facebook&#8217;s alleged discrimination&#8221;, the Justice Department said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Facebook agreed to pay $14.25 million to settle claims it favored H1B Visa Holders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the claim, <strong>Facebook <\/strong>refused to recruit, consider, or hire qualified and available US workers. For more than <strong>2,600 positions<\/strong> that the firm rather reserved for <strong>temporary visa holders<\/strong>. The positions that were the subject of the alleged discrimination offered an average salary of roughly<strong> $156,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the lawsuit, which was based on the department&#8217;s almost <strong>two-year investigation<\/strong>.
