USCIS has changed its mission statement<\/strong> again – this time to embrace a more immigration-friendly stance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, USCIS, under the Trump Government<\/strong>, changed its mission statement. To line up with President Donald Trump’s focus on the requirement, strict scrutiny, and extreme vetting. The statement didn’t emphasize customer satisfaction<\/strong>, i.e., the satisfaction of petitioners, and beneficiaries. The change in emphasis <\/strong>was stark and didn’t go unrecognized. Instead, the mission statement<\/strong> focused on protecting and serving the American public<\/strong> and guaranteeing. These advantages were not given to the individuals who didn’t qualify or the people who “might cause us damage. The 2018 statement<\/strong> did not speak of the United States as a \u201cnation of migrants<\/strong>\u201d and it focused on efficiency. While \u201cprotecting Americans, securing the homeland, and honoring our values.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immigration-Friendly Mission Statement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new 2022 USCIS mission statement reflects President Joe Biden’s belief <\/strong>that “new Americans fuel our economy<\/strong>. As innovators and job creators, working in each American industry<\/strong>, and adding to our crafts, culture, and government”. Accordingly, he has given executive orders guiding the different immigration agencies <\/strong>to reduce unnecessary barriers to immigration. The 2022 mission statement<\/strong> also reflects President Biden’s directions and for an inclusive and accessible agency.\u201d Director Jaddou \u201cis committed to ensuring that the immigration system<\/strong> is accessible and humane . . . [serving] the public with respect and fairness, and lead with integrity to reflect America\u2019s promise <\/strong>as a nation of welcome and possibility today and for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[USCIS Guidance on Requests for \u201cTransfer of Underlying Basis\u201d Between Employment-Based Categories<\/span><\/a>]<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As indicated by Director Jaddou, USCIS <\/strong>will strive to achieve the core values of treating candidates with integrity, dignity, and respect and using innovation. To provide world-class service <\/strong>while vigilantly strengthening and enhancing security. On 3rd February 2022<\/strong>, Director Jaddou, along with her deputies, briefed the nation on the agency\u2019s efforts to improve service at USCIS<\/strong>. The heads of the office clarified that USCIS knows it should continue to eliminate backlogs<\/strong>, cut processing times. Also, reduce unneeded Requests for Evidence and interviews, eliminate inequities in processing times<\/strong> across service centers, and improve the contact center, in addition to other things, to achieve its goals<\/strong>.
