The US Embassy said on Thursday that it had given a record 82,000 student visas<\/strong> in India in the previous year, with more Indian students<\/strong> going to the United States to study than from some other country in the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes amid reports of long wait times for short-term business and tourist (B1\/B2) visas<\/strong> to the United States. With the earliest appointments available only in mid-2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This showed that the US stayed the most sought-after<\/strong> destination for Indian students. Patricia A Lacina, Charge D’Affaires, US Embassy<\/strong> in India, said on the microblogging platform Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This year the US Mission in India has given the largest number of student visas<\/strong> to date,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
