The procedure to apply for OPT is that students on an F-1 visa<\/strong> should request approval from the assigned school official (DSO) at their college. The DSO suggests the student and exchange visitor information system (SEVIS) by supporting the student’s form I-20,<\/strong> and certificate of eligibility for non-immigrant student status. “The student should then file the form I-765, ‘application for employment authorization<\/strong> and supporting documents with US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Whenever approved, USCIS will give a form I-766, an employment authorization document. A student can’t start their training until they get the authorization from USCIS<\/strong>,” the US embassy spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OPT status<\/strong> allows eligible international students and new graduates the opportunity to gain on-the-job learning. That supplements knowledge gained in their academic studies. To participate the in the training opportunities, an international student doesn’t have to change their non-immigrant status.<\/strong> The student should work with their assigned DSO to guarantee eligibility as well as apply for and receive proper authorization. However, all international students<\/strong> who get financial compensation of any kind must apply for a social security number in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States has waived Indian Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
