For fiscal year (FY) 2023, the yearly H-1B quota <\/strong>for 85,000 H-1Bs was met as of 23rd August 2022, and on 1st October 2022, those H-1Bs that were approved as adjustment-of-status petitions went into effect. To get H-1B status<\/strong> for the first time, a foreign national is expected to go through the yearly H-1B Cap process<\/strong>, and selection is dependent on a randomized lottery system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H-1B Cap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If selected, the petitions <\/strong>can be ready with two options to activate H-1B status:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Change of status. <\/strong>A change in status is a request to consequently change the status of a foreign national<\/strong> who is now in the US.
