The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (<strong>USCIS<\/strong>) recently announced that it will significantly extend the <strong>validity period of a green card<\/strong> belonging to a conditional permanent resident (CPR). As long as the <strong>I-751 or I-829 <\/strong>is still pending, the USCIS will now extend the green card&#8217;s validity period by<strong> 48 months<\/strong> beyond the expiration date listed on the green card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Extension of Green Card Validity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For form I-829 petitions filed after <strong>11th January 2023<\/strong>, this policy took effect. On <strong>25th January 2023, <\/strong>the change took effect for form I-751 petitions. Updated receipt notices are currently being sent out by the USCIS. Granted by these receipt notices, this <strong>policy change<\/strong> is beneficial. However, it goes without saying that putting in place modifications. The USCIS would make it possible for these cases to be processed in a <strong>time frame<\/strong>.
