Members of President-elect Joe Biden’s<\/strong> White House transition effort cautioned Tuesday that he would not fix all of President Trump’s <\/strong>changes to the U.S. immigration system<\/strong> overnight. Also, clarified that incoming administration officials would “need time” to seek after such efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a press call, the transition officers<\/strong> promised that Biden would suspend removals while making changes to the immigration system<\/strong> upon taking office. However, said that those changes <\/strong>would take time to execute, as per The Washington <\/strong>Post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biden himself appeared to agree at a press conference<\/strong> Tuesday evening. During which he said that reestablishing <\/strong>the U.S. immigration system would be an “overwhelming priority<\/strong>” of his administration. However would not happen immediately on day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their alerts echoed those from Susan Rice<\/strong>, the president-elect’s domestic policy chief, who spoke to Spanish-language<\/strong> news service Agencia EFE on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump immigration restrictions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“We will have the option to take some steps to change policies immediately<\/strong>. Others will take time to put in place, and the situation at the border will not transform <\/strong>overnight. Due in large part to the damage was done over the last four years<\/strong>. Yet, we are committed to addressing it in full,” Rice said in that interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rice added that prospective asylum-seekers<\/strong> should not accept the individuals. Who state U.S. border restrictions<\/strong> will be relaxed and asylum claims will be processed on the first day of Biden’s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Processing power at the border isn’t like a light that can be turned on and off. It won’t be so. We are acquiring profoundly harmed, non-functioning infrastructure<\/strong>, and processing capacity has to be reestablished and extended in enormous part. [U.S. Immigration Reform To Be A Biden Priority<\/span><\/a>]<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
